Interestingly, the Meizu MX4 Mini was caught running a custom OS manufactured by the retail behemothAlibaba, who recently went public.Alibaba's Yun OS 3.0, an Android-based OS, is created to become an alternative to Google's Android in order to provide region-specific content. This has the capability to support dual-network, according to GSM Arena.
Yun OS is otherwise called as Aliyun OS and Alibaba Group's subsidiary named AliCloud has developed this OS with a total of 1,600 engineers in tow for three years. Apparently, the first device to run this OS is K-Touch W700. Released in July 2011, a whopping 1 million Yun-powered devices have been sold within May 2012.
Coming back to the compact device, the Meizu MX4 Mini will reportedly feature a 5-inch display and powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6732 chipset with 64-bit CPU. The bigger flagship smartphone Meizu MX4, on the other hand, comes with a 5.36-inch IPS display and 1,152 x 1,920 pixels screen resolution. The device is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6595 chip with a combination of four Cortex-A17 cores at 2.2 GHz and additional four Cortex-A7 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz. In addition to the flagship handset and its compact version, there is a new Meizu MX4 Pro handset in the offing. The device is expected to house a similar display, however the screen resolution will stand at 2,560 x 1,536 pixels.
Reportedly, the Meizu MX4 Pro will be powered by a superior octa-core Samsung's Exynos 5430 processor. This smartphone will come with four Cortex-A17 cores, clocked at 2.6 GHz and four more Cortex-A15 cores, clocked at 2.1 GHz. If reports are true, the device will be backed by a killer 4 GB of RAM.
As reported earlier, the Meizu MX4, regarded as Xiaomi Mi4's rival, has made its international debut. The Meizu MX4 started selling on September 22 and the delivery date is pegged for October.
